Keeping the Bridge Standard

Why AOGP uses the Grade Chart as L. Ron Hubbard developed it through 1981.

What Is Standard Technology?

Standard Technology refers to the proven, workable techniques of Scientology as developed and tested by L. Ron Hubbard. It is technology that has been thoroughly validated through application and produces consistent results when applied exactly as written.

L. Ron Hubbard emphasized that the technology works only when applied standardly — without alteration, addition, or deletion. This principle is codified in the policy known as “Keeping Scientology Working” (KSW), first issued in 1965.

The Grade Chart Through 1981

The Grade Chart evolved through six major editions between 1965 and 1981, each reflecting Hubbard's ongoing research and refinement. The 1978 edition is widely considered the most comprehensive, introducing New Era Dianetics, the Expanded Grades, and the Drug Rundown.

The 1981 edition was the last chart published under Hubbard's direct supervision.

What Changed After 1982

Following the organizational changes of 1982, significant alterations were made to the Grade Chart and the technology itself. These changes are documented in HCOB 19 January 1982 and subsequent issues. Many of these alterations were later identified as departures from standard technology.

Independent Scientology organizations, including AOGP, restored the original Grade Chart to ensure that the Bridge remains as Hubbard developed it.

AOGP's Commitment

The Advanced Organization of the Great Plains is committed to delivering Scientology exactly as L. Ron Hubbard researched and developed it. Our use of the pre-1982 Grade Chart is not nostalgia — it is a technical decision based on results.
